Karim Benzema: Real Madrid signs forward until 2021

Karim Benzema has agreed a four-year contract extension at Real Madrid that will keep him with the Spanish and European champion until 2021. And few bigger - in most ways - than Michael Phelps who has said that he is quite happy with his handy haul of 28 Olympic medals.

With Ronaldo out of the picture, Gareth Bale commanded more attention and had come under fire for his performances prior to scoring a terrific solo goal in the win over Real Sociedad on Sunday night.

The former Lyon man has played an understated yet significant role as part of Los Blancos' squad since his arrival at the club in 2009.

Zidane himself is someone who has not needed to be afforded time as Real's manager.

Joel Campbell is the only absentee for Quique Setien, with the former Arsenal man nursing a knee injury.

Real Madrid says it has extended the contract of Karim Benzema until the end of the 2021 season. Setien is unlikely to rotate his side much. The Algerian international is a regular for Betis at the back and has been impressive for the visitors.

Real Madrid added that the 29-year-old Frenchman is to speak to media in the Santiago Bernabeu's press room on Thursday.

The current gameweek has already seen two grand scorelines between Valencia-Malaga and Barcelona-Eibar.

L'Equipe probably like the idea of PSG making the biggest clubs worry, and throw Manchester City in for company.
