According to L'Equipe, Barca has reached a contract agreement with Ousmane Dembele and is now directly negotiating with Borussia Dortmund for the talented winger.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who is entering his second season with the Bundesliga side, is considered one of the top young talents in the game.
Dembele starred in Dortmund's penalty shoot-out defeat to Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup, last night, displaying further proof as to why he's become one of European football's hottest properties over the last 12 months.
Barca's move for Dembele could be good news for Liverpool and their chances of keeping Coutinho.
He is, however, clearly flattered by the rumours and knows that Barca now have the funds at their disposal to make a move happen.
The Metro cite Bild as saying that Real Madrid are eyeing Dembele as an alternative to Kylian Mbappe while Barcelona are also showing a keen interest in signing the attacker after losing Neymar to PSG.
Wenger has, thus, set his sights on Dembele, whose pace in addition to his playmaking abilities could complement Mesut Ozil well.
"I think he wanted to change his destiny, but I cannot summarise [the reasons]".
His value has not increased more than 6 times and has a price tag of €100 million slapped on him.
And Chelsea boss Antonio Conte insisted on Friday the English champions are looking to strengthen rather than sell.
"If they weren't going to pay us, I couldn't do anything", he said to COPE.
