Costa Rica beat Panama to reach CONCACAF Gold Cup semis

I don't think we can come out like we did today in the first 30 and escape without giving up goals.

Clint Dempsey remains a lone goal away from tying Landon Donovan's all-time record of 57 goals for the U.S. MNT. And Arena, who replaced Klinsmann as coach after that game, isn't above using the embarrassment of the result as fuel for the rematch.

Twenty minutes earlier Salvadoran defender Henry Romero had bitten U.S. forward Jozy Altidore, then twisted his nipple, as both players jockeyed for position ahead of a corner kick.

Costa Rica enter this quarterfinal match against Panama in good form. Other stars, like playmaker and Sporting CP star Bryan Ruiz, remain.

Costa Rica progressed to the semi-final by beating Panama 1-0 in the last round courtesy of an Anibal Godoy own goal, while the United States saw off El Salvador 2-0.

The game's only goal came in the 77th minute. We have also some chances in the front.

With both teams trying to continue their winning ways, the game could fall to just one or two moments of exploiting an opposing error. They've met seven times this decade, and Costa Rica owns a 4-3 edge - including two wins on American soil. Out goes youth and in comes experience.

Panama, meanwhile, was looking to build momentum going into World Cup qualifying this fall, where it currently sits fourth in the Hex. Costa Rica will be fighting for their first appearance in the Gold Cup final since 2002.

Panama started just five players from their opening lineup for the 0-0 tie at Costa Rica on June 8. As such, only striker Erick Torres of Houston Dynamo plays outside of the country at the club level. We are not affiliated with nor do we endorse any sports teams or venues in this release. But it would be difficult to pit a pressure-filled Mexican team who struggled to beat Curacao in the group stage against Costa Rica's near-full arsenal of stars.

Chelsea Football Club and Real Madrid have agreed terms for the transfer of Alvaro Morata to Stamford Bridge.

Despite those struggles, they are on to the semifinals against the United States. We didn't deal well with the physicality.
